Founded in 1968 on Epsom Downs, the Club has since migrated south to its current location on the border between Surrey and Sussex.
About our flying site: The field is quite remote and away from almost everything except cows and sheep. We fly large models and jet turbines up to 20Kg on a well mown, flat grass strip 75 x 12 meters, plus great access and parking close to the strip.
A friendly bunch who love our sport and enjoy getting together on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays down at our flying field for some good days flying and a chat with friends and BBQ weather permitting. During the summer we also have Wednesday evening BBQ electric Fly-Inns. In the winter, once a month (Third Wednesday) we hold our “Club Night” for a noggin and a natter and more often than not, a guest speaker at The Kingswood Arms pub in Tadworth.
Our members encompass the entire spectrum of fixed wing modelling, from sport to scale, from scratch builders to ARTF fliers, from jet turbines to FPV. Unfortunately due to our location we can not accommodate Quads or Drones.
We also have a very active slope soaring group that visit the awesome slopes of the South and North Downs. Every year in April or May depending on when Easter falls we have a tradition of a prearranged 3-day slope soaring pilgrimage to the Isle of Wight for flying, beer and curries!
For those that wish to progress through the BMFA achievement scheme we have 4x examiners and 4 instructors.
If this sounds like your sort of thing and you would like to join, please use the contact form in the contact us section and drop us a line. Experienced pilots and novices are all welcome.
